Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

Peace and Chaos

I am at my house taking a break, but will be heading back to Uncle Jay's house soon.  He passed away at 2:15 am with just my mom and Aunt Susan there holding his hands.  They took him off the vent in the last moments, which was a beautiful thing.  There is much to be done in the coming days and a lot to be processed.  I still have a lot of tears left, but there has been much reminiscing and laughter to.  He had a life worth celebrating, friends and family who adore him, and as much dignity in death as he had in life.
Now I have the hard job of helping my boys process this.  They were close and will miss him so much, not to mention they have not had such a personal experience of death before.  I pick them up from their dad's house in just a few hours.
