Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

Oh, the humanity!

Gross factor of 8 in the picture below:

It has been a long two days. The child most definitely had a concussion, and has slept on and off the entire time. He swears he is never going on the trampoline again. I look at him with the mom look and remind him that the trampoline is reasonably safe if you do not introduce more than one person at a time on it and Nerf guns. He had a CT scan at the ER and it came back OK, so there should be no lasting effects.

The good news is that he should heal up quickly. The bad news is that the numbing shot didn't work and he felt every staple. I still have blood stains to clean up. I missed all my classes yesterday and it was my last day of classes. Between the memorial and the accident... sigh.

So, today is a work day. I am dragging exhausted from the whole wake the child up every two hours thing. We have had to request that the staff person who was supposed to be supervising the boys at the time not come back. He was on a personal call with his back to them. So, there is a slight scramble to replace.
