Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

Car Accident

Well, the Phoenix traffic finally got me. I was in a car accident on the Loop 101 on Thursday- right across from that darn stadium. No one is seriously injured, but Aidan was transported because he hit his head. It was my fault, pure and simple. A lot of you know that I have a bad cold right now, and my reflexes just weren't there to deal with a sudden slowdown. I hit the SUV ahead of us pretty hard, so I am thankful for the airbags and our newer safer cars. Of course, the safety comes at a price, and my car is damaged enough that I am praying they total it. I don't want it back repaired.
Aidan was in the front seat, where he is not supposed to be, because my special needs child, Konal, was having a tough time that day, and I needed to separate them. I feel guilty about that, although it was necessary at the time, especially since he was the worst injured. Konal is in the best shape- Aidan and I saw it happening, and he was reading a book, so was relaxed. (Don't bother trying to talk me out of the guilt- it is a natural thing for me. I know the logic as well, and realize that I really shouldn't feel guilty)

I spent Friday on the phone. Instructors, Dr's, Insurance Adjustor. I took the boys to the Dr for their colds, and they are both on antibiotics.

Today I finally got a rental car. It is a Chevy Colorado- a truck. The boys are excited about that. Financially, we are in bad shape, though. This is going to cost us big. The adjustor told us that the other party has already retained a lawyer. That won't hurt us, but who knows what is going to happen to our insurance rates.

Life never stops, does it?
