Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

Went on a date

Yes, it is true- Chris and I actually went out on a date. We went to Chik-fil-a for dinner, then to Barnes and Noble and browsed. I found a lot of good books, but really enjoyed the magazine selection. B&N carries a great selection of British Cross-Stitching Magazines. I was especially drooling over The Cross Stitcher, Classic Stitches, and Cross Stitch Card Shop. They are very expensive, but have so much more than our wimpy U.S. magazines.
We then went to Borders, were I found this wonderful book and added it to my wishlist:

I wasn't sure I wanted something that called me a complete idiot, but it made the insult up to me with content and readability. It had the best framing instructions I had seen in a long time. It also had some great suggestions for maintaining tension in a project, such as using thread to make the sides in a scroll frame taunt, or using a regular piece of fabric to hoop a small project. You sew the evenweave or Aida to the fabric, then carefully cut the mounting fabric out. so you can embroider.

After the drool fest in B&N and Borders, we went to Wal-mart and was amazed at the seduction cheaply manufactored goods holds. We held our ground, though and I only came out with a spool of buttom thread for lacing my Pansy Heart project to the frame.

From there, on to the gas station to buy a powerball ticket. They stopped selling them at 9:30 :( Meanies!

Home again, Home again- jiggedy jig.

Goodnight everyone... it is past my bed time.

Oh! I applied for a job tonight with Alpine Access- a work at home customer service company. Wish me luck... I really need the money.
