Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

One Hell of a Weekend

Chris got home from Texas at around 5pm on Saturday. I didn't realize just how much I missed him until I saw him. We immediately wended our way through the maze of weekend Phoenix freeway closures and ran by his house just long enough to say hi to his grandma and drop off his stuff. We then left for the wilds of Cottonwood to see Major Lingo at the Dia de los Muertos celebration. We were originally planning on staying at the Jerome Grand Hotel but because of the holiday they were already booked. Chris said the Best Western was good, but when we got there, they were already full, so we started room hunting. We were in luck, finding a Budget Inn still in Cottonwood with two rooms left. Others were not as lucky, having to stay in that dreaded lair of tweakers, Camp Verde (inside joke). From there, we changed into our pirate flavored outfits, and went to hunt down food. The outfits were not true costumes, but Chris wore a cute poet style shirt and vest, and I wore a full corset in blue tapestry that he bought me at the Fetish Ball (another long story) and a lace shawl.
Denny's was a fun adventure because of the gallbladder issues. My consult with the surgeon is not until November 7. I did manage, though. Salads are good things in my current world of no fat.
The concert was awesome and I danced and had a ball. Had a bad spot with the pain issues, but it eventually resolved. Unfortunately, I had to eat again afterwards and so wasn't feeling so hot when we got back to the hotel.

Going home was a blast! We took the scenic route through Jerome, Prescott and Wickenburg. Chris took some great pictures, especially of Jerome State Park. I asked him to get them made into a CD for me, so I can share them. In Prescott, we visited a great store called The Raven which specializes in fine writing supplies (papers, pens, cards, books). A total drool store, but I couldn't find a web site or link for it.

I have realized that I post a lot of silly quizzes when I don't feel like blogging my reality. Shame on me!! Time for bed. I may have a sick child on my hands (my poor Boo.)
