Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

I survived Konal's School meeting this morning. We have an official 504 meeting in a month. About time- sigh. We had some words about the schools handling of Konal's toileting issues and I am hoping that is finally resolved.
Homework has reached an uneasy compromise, and they refused to evaluate him again. I will be writing and officially asking for an evaluation, so I can get a formal denial. I am not the only one suspecting hidden learning disabilities, but the school keeps stating that he is choosing not to do his work, etc.
The hardest part is trying to keep Konal's team from overly rocking the boat. They want to go in "guns blazing" which I can understand, but I have worked for years to partner with the school. I firmly believe the school can be a huge ally for us, but the "game" has to be played.
I will keep quietly after the school, and eventually they will see things my way :)
Not much else going on today- just dance, tennis, Govt class, cub scouts- the usual. I have some free time until 2, so I will probably work on my cross stitch a bit.
Tomorrow will be busy. I have PT in the morning, then speaking class, Konal's Gastroenterologist at 2:40 (a 45 minute drive), then dance and Social Work.
And I wonder why I am always tired.
It rained today. Nice change from the 70's and 80's.
