Return to Krista's Korner

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else's child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people's children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter-- it is also right!" - Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

In Memoriam

I just received a phone call that my Uncle passed on last night. This was not unexpected- in fact I am glad he is finally getting rest and in peace- but I am almost surprised at how it is effecting me. He has been on the edge of death for over 2 years now, with lots of close calls.

We have already mourned his passing and celebrated his life. Why did my throat close up and the tears appear? I will miss my uncle, and hope to treasure my memories of him. I will make an effort to remember him as he was and not how life treated him in recent times.

Goodbye, my dear Uncle. There is a community that you effected in many ways that will miss you. You were my first taste of Heinlein, my example that Science Fiction and Fantasy are cool, and my predecessor in the Con community.

Rest in the peace denied to you in life.
